Perugia (in Search of Ar…chocolate?)

Got up early for breakfast for the long drive down the mountain, and even longer drive to Perugia. Driving on the small town streets, constantly making unexpected turns, width too small for two cars, round-abouts make for some tense moments in our “large” car. But, we are getting used to it (sort of).

The “Crazy Americans” on the Hill

That’s what the locals call Sada Sat Kaur and Sada Sat Singh (all in good fun of course). And you’d know why if you drove the 4 km steep dirt road to the Yoga Borgo. They found the crumbling site over eleven years ago. It was founded as a house of prayer in the fourth century on a famous pilgrim path, the Borgo has been known as a place of devotion and music ever since. The work they have done – and are doing – is nothing short of astounding.


Sada Sat Kaur gave us the full tour of the ruins, the buildings and the five beautiful acres in the hills of Umbria overlooking Tuscany.

Driving Day (in the Fog) to Umbria

We said goodby to Venice this morning – taking the Alilaguna Orange line from our Guglie stop, with foghorns, back to the airport. It was an easy walk to the car rental area where we picked up our citroen diesel seven passenger vehicle (didn’t have to worry about our bags fitting I guess). Just have to worry about the sides hitting buildings as we maneuver through some of the little city streets we plan to visit.
